2014 SRPMIC Inauguration

On Saturday, December 20, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community held its Inauguration Ceremony at the Talking Stick Resort Salt River Ballroom. The day marked a time period (on the calendar stick) that reflected the dawning of a new leader, President Delbert Ray Sr.; the reappointment of Vice-President Martin Harvier, Council Member Thomas Largo and Chief Judge Ryan Andrews; and the installation of new Council Member David Antone, new Council Member Michael Dallas Sr., and new Council Member Jenelle Howard.

SRPD Recognized for Exceptional Service Commitment by Indian Country Intelligence Network

On Tuesday, November 9, at an awards banquet held at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Salt River Police Department (SRPD) officers and civilian support staff received well-deserved recognition for their exceptional service commitment to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community from the Indian Country Intelligence Network (ICIN), in association with the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona (ITCA). This event was a time for Arizona tribal communities to honor and recognize the outstanding efforts of law-enforcement officers and civilian personnel for their acts of exceptional courage or resourcefulness in service to Native American communities.


 

VAII Clubhouse Holds Annual Christmas Bike Raffle

The VAII Clubhouse held its annual Christmas Bike Raffle at VAII Park on the evening of December 16. Every year around the holidays, the VAII Clubhouse, along with SRPMIC Youth Services, hosts this event for families. It gives residents of the VAII neighborhood and other members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community a chance to win a bicycle for a young family member. With Christmas right around the corner, it was the perfect opportunity.


 

Education Advisor Completes Certified Public Manager Program

On December 17, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Joyla Gates completed the year-long certified public manager program offered through Arizona State University’s (ASU) Bob Ramsey Executive Education.
