Sports Fans Experience the Tribes of Arizona Through Arizona Indian Festival

As thousands of sports fans poured into the Valley for Super Bowl XLIX and its many associated events, the Arizona American Indian Tourism Association (AAITA) partnered with the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts to present the 2015 Arizona Indian Festival. This much-anticipated festival was held at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall January 29-31.

2015 Talking Stick Festival - A Cultural Experience!

The Talking Stick Cultural and Entertainment Destination (TSCED), a division of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), developed and coordinated a showcase of Native American Art and Dance at the Talking Stick Festival, which took place January 22-24. The TSCED continually seeks opportunities to highlight the tribal traditions of the SRPMIC to visitors and residents of the Valley.



 

Super Kids Enjoy BBQ Fun, Western Style

On the evening of Thursday, January 29, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Recreation Department hosted a Buckaroo BBQ for members of the Super Kids Club. The Recreation Department had an evening’s worth of outdoor fun planned for the Super Kids and their families, but things changed when the evening’s forecast for rain turned into more rain than anticipated.

 

Courtyard Marriott Scottsdale Salt River Hosts Super Bowl Event

Throughout the week leading up to Super Bowl Sunday, football-themed events took place throughout the Valley of the Sun, including on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The Courtyard Marriott Scottsdale Salt River was the official Courtyard Marriott hotel of Super Bowl XLIX in Phoenix. On Monday, January 26, Courtyard TV filmed a commercial featuring television host Rich Eisen of the NFL Network; Eric Decker, a wide receiver with the New York Jets; and Demaryius Thomas, a wide receiver with the Denver Broncos.
