Community Member INFR Tour Champion

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Ty Romo, 26, is making his seventh appearance at the Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR), which will be held November 4-8 at the South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Romo is the INFR Tour Team Roping Champion (Heeler). He worked hard for this title by traveling to all the rodeos on the tour to qualify for the INFR.


 

Westwood Sisters Join Cheer and Pom Teams

Saleen Chantasingh Enos and her sister Gailyn both dreamed of being on the cheer team for Westwood High School. This year their dream has come true: Saleen, a senior, is on the varsity pom team, and her sister Gailyn, a sophomore, is on the junior varsity cheer team. It’s the first time for both girls being on the teams.



 

“Native It’s Your Game” Project Teaches Sexual Health

Starting Tuesday, August 23, and ending on Thursday, October 16, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community youth ages 12 to 14 participated in the Native It’s Your Game Project (NIYG), an evidence-based multimedia computer program designed to teach youth about sexual health and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and teen pregnancy.
