The annual Veterans Recognition Powwow on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is a competitive powwow and social gathering to honor and remember Community members who have served our country. It is a time to reflect, dance and pray for those loved ones.

 

ASU President Crow Speaks at American Indian Chamber Luncheon

With the current economy, students across Indian Country are stressing over how they’re going to pay for their college tuition. In some cases, students are taking out thousands of dollars in loans. On Friday, April 18, Arizona State University President Michael M. Crow delivered a speech at the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona (AICCAz) luncheon at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. This luncheon was an opportunity for attendees to network and learn about Arizona’s economic development and the state of education in Indian Country.

 

Salt River Library Celebrates 45 Years of Servicet

On Thursday, April 17, the Salt River Tribal Library marked 45 years of serving its patrons in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The library chose to celebrate the anniversary during National Library Week (April 13-19) with the theme “Lives change @ your library.”
