Senior’s Salt River Thunder Places in Quechan’s Senior Olympics Chair Volleyball

During the 12th annual Senior Quechan Olympics held May 15-17, the Salt River Seniors chair volleyball team, Salt River Thunder, hoped to bring home the championship trophy.

 

Athletic Director and Head Coach Shawn Lytle departs after 11 seasons at SRHS

After earning his 200th win in the 2012-13 season, girls varsity basketball head coach and Salt River High School Athletic Director Shawn Lytle will be leaving the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Lytle has served as a sports coach at the school for 11 years, and now he has decided it’s time to make a change in his career.

 

Injury Prevention Month: Preventing Falls Among Older Adults

  Last year, my 88-year-old mother took a nasty fall while on her morning walk. She broke fingers in both hands, had a severe laceration on her right palm, and to look at her face you would think she had been in a bar fight. When the hospital called to tell me she was fine and would soon be discharged, I was elated, but then the bombshell dropped. After discharge she would need 24-hour assistance to help her with housekeeping and “personal” care.
