NABI GAMES: Lady Warriors and Salt River Renegades

From June 18-21 Native Youth ranging in ages 9-18 played for a variety of teams in the all Native American Baseball and Softball tournament. Community youth competed against all levels of talent from teams who travelled from all over the North American continent.

 

Salt River Elite: Make it to Silver Division Bracket

The Salt River Elite found themselves on an unexpected road to the 12th Annual Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI), held July 1-5 in various gyms throughout the Valley. This young team consisted of nine boys who came together and appointed Jeffrey Johnson, an assistant coach for the Salt River High School boys basketball team, as coach. Each player had hopes of challenging their skills and eventually working their way to the boys Gold Division bracket.

 

Sean Wood and the AZ Warriors reach Elite 8 at NABI

  Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Sean Wood and his team, the AZ Warriors, played in the NABI championship game, where they came up short against a very good Alaskan team. This year, Wood and the Warriors looked to take what’s theirs and claim the Gold Division NABI championship.

Salt River Warriors make it to the Sweet 16 at NABI

  The SR Warriors basketball team made it to the silver bracket Sweet 16 round of this year’s NABI tournament, making it the best appearance since competing at NABI. The Warriors, featuring mostly SRPMIC members, fell to Valley Crue with a final score of 52-49.
