The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community New Year’s Eve Family Celebration 2014 took place at the parking lot of the Salt River Gym on December 31 from 4 p.m. until midnight. A festive array of carnival midway rides, game booths and food vendors lit up the scene and brought families together for a fun-filled evening. There were activities for every age category, which made this evening one to remember.
On Tuesday, December 17, Salt River Daisy Troop 2516 of the Girl Scouts of America held its investiture ceremony to welcome 12 new girls into the troop. For many of the girls, this is their first year participating in Girl Scouts.
Christmas came early for two lucky Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and their families as they were handed the keys to their new homes a week before Christmas. Community members Clifford Kauakahi and Anthony Kelly, Jr. walked into new houses that came complete with window treatments and appliances.
After the winter break is over in January, the students in Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community’s Early Enrichment Program (EEP) will be planting their very first garden. The EEP students are young Community members ages three to five.
