Casino Arizona Youth Basketball Clinic

Youth from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community took part in the Casino Arizona Youth Basketball Clinic held at Salt River High School on February 10. Children from ages 7 to 12 were divided into age groups to take part in basketball-skills rotations.

 

Senior Night at SRHS Varsity Girls Basketball Home Game

Every year, Salt River High School recognizes the senior players on its sports teams. On February 4, at their final home game, against Scottsdale Christian, the SRHS varsity basketball team recognized seven girls, the highest number of seniors ever on the team.

 

Light the Night to Stop Cancer

Many Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and employees participated in a fitness walk/run through the Two Waters tribal complex during the 2014 New Year’s Light the Night to Stop Cancer event on January 28. The event was hosted by the Salt River Diabetes Program and took the place of the annual New Year’s Road Race that the program had sponsored over the past six years.

 

Unity Run 5K and 1-Mile Walk

On the chilly morning of Saturday, February 8, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members, employees and families came out to Salt River High School for a 5K run and/or 1-mile walk. This was no ordinary run/walk; electronics of any kind were not permitted. The people ran or walked as a form of prayer, a prayer intended for their family, their loved ones, the Community and themselves.
