Upcoming “East Valley Holiday” and “Don’t Shatter the Dream” DUI Task Force

Salt River Police Department will be out in force to make sure drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs are off the road during the “East Valley Holiday” DUI Task Force and Bureau of Indian Affairs “Don’t Shatter the Dream” National Impaired Driving Enforcement this November 22, 2013 to January 1, 2014. Statewide DUI Task Forces will be out across the state conducting sobriety checkpoints, and saturation patrols, throughout the Holiday Season.

You are 16 years old and you come home from a long, hard day at school, teachers hassling you all day about schoolwork, classmates teasing you about the old T-shirt you wore today. At home, you get screamed at about cleaning your room by a parent or guardian who has also had a long day at work. You feel overwhelmed and just want to get away. So you pack a bag with some clothes and you head over to a friend’s house without telling anyone.

2013 Terry Bennett Memorial Police Motorcycle Training and Competition

On September 20 and 21, Salt River Police Department (SRPD) Traffic Enforcement Bureau (TEB) Officers Christopher Morin, Forest Wood, Kenneth Kelly, and James Southard attended the 2013 Terry Bennett Memorial Police Motorcycle Training and Competition in San Diego. The competition’s primary purpose to raise money for charity and to educate the public of the contribution of the motorcycle officers in keeping the peace and providing for public safety. The competition featured many of the top riders from around the Southwest (California, Mexico, and Arizona) to practice a challenging cone course, exchange training ideas and techniques, and compete for honors.
