SRHS Student Australia Bound

Kewanwytewa, No. 22 and a guard for the SRHS Lady Eagles, finished this season with 343 points, ranking her No. 33 among high school players in the state of Arizona. Other stats for the 2012–13 season include 148 total rebounds, 46 assists and 74 steals.

 

Southwest Women’s Basketball Tournament

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member and eighth-grade Kino Junior High student Adrian “A.J.” Shortey has started practicing and playing in league games so he and his basketball team, the Junior Bobcats of Scottsdale, can get ready for the Arizona Special Olympics basketball tournament March 22 and 23.

 

2013 Colorado Rockies Cultural Awareness Training

Staff members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Cultural Resources Department (CRD) and the Community Development Department (CDD) visited the Colorado Rockies at their clubhouse at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on the evening of February 28 for some cultural-awareness training. The players has just wrapped up a spring training game and sat down for the presentation before heading home.



 

Monthly Seniors Meeting Welcomes Special Guests

During the monthly seniors’ breakfast meeting on March 6, held at the Lehi Community Center, the seniors walked into the building expecting their usual breakfast and updates about upcoming events. But instead, they were surprised to meet some special guests: two Colorado Rockies baseball players, No. 16, Lars Davis, and No. 70, Parker Frazier.
