The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies played their first spring training game at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Saturday, February 23.
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community President Diane Enos and Council Member Tom Largo threw out the first pitch for each team in front of a sold-out crowd of 11,576.
Total attendance at Salt River Fields is now over the 1 million mark since its opening in 2011. The Rockies won 11-2 over the Diamondbacks in Saturday’s game.
The spring training season at Salt River Fields continues throughout March. After that, the facility will host two games of the World Baseball Classic, on March 7 and 8.
