SRPD Recognized Fallen Native American Officers from the State of Arizona

On the Moring of Wednesday, May 15 the Salt River Police Department (SRPD) paid tribute to the fallen police officers for Peace Officer’s Memorial Day. Over 30 available police officers and SRPD staff came out to the early morning ceremony in front of the SRPD Main Headquarters where they raised the flag half-staff and read the names of the fallen Native American officers.

The Peace Officer Memorial Day is proclaimed on May 15 each year during police week, the SRPD honors those Native American officers from Arizona who lost their lives in the line of duty and who also have their names inscripted on the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial which is located in Washington D.C. The Wall has 255 names of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, 82 of those names are officers from Native American police agencies from across the United States; 20 of those officers are from the state of Arizona.
