A Grand Opening for Butterfly Wonderland

Butterfly Wonderland, the indoor butterfly pavilion located on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, held its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 25. Community members, landowners and families of Community staff participated in the grand-opening festivities.

Bird Singers and Dancers by the River Performs at Arizona Rattlers Game

“A lot of the dancers are new, and this is one of their first times being on a stage this big. They were nervous, but as soon as they heard the gourds, they relaxed,” said Annette Ramirez, group leader of the Bird Singers and Dancers by the River group, who performed along with several other cultural dance and singing groups for the first-ever Arizona Rattlers Multicultural Night on May 11. The Rattlers played against the Utah Blaze at the US Airways Center.

 

Community Member retires from Agate Steel after 14 years

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Member Brian Enos retired from Agate Steel on Tuesday, May 14. He was working for the company as a yard manager. Enos started out as a yard labor He took care of shipping, receiving and supervising.

 

Scottsdale Community College
Interior Design Program Renovates Lehi Senior Lounge

The Scottsdale Community College (SCC) Interior Design Program, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Public Works Department, and SRPMIC Senior Services worked jointly to give the Lehi Community seniors a new, updated lounge at the Lehi Community Building. During the Senior Breakfast on Wednesday, May 8, the doors were opened to the newly remodeled space.
Public Works Director Kirk Beaty gave an overview of the project to all the seniors in attendance at the breakfast.
