Christmas at the State Capital

On Friday, December 6, the Salt River Elementary School Choir performed a number of songs at the Arizona State Capitol in downtown Phoenix. The choir has participated in the annual Arizona State Capitol Holiday Concert Series for the past eight years, performing for employees in the offices in the building as well as visitors and family members. Each year, invitations are sent to school choirs throughout Arizona, and there are three to six performances scheduled during each work week in December.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

On Friday, December 6, a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day program was held in the courtyard of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community’s Two Waters complex. This event was held to remember those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor and to honor those who served our country during World War II.

 

Whittier Elementary
Orchestra Winter Concert

On the evening of Tuesday, December 10, several young members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community performed in the Whittier Elementary School Orchestra Winter Concert. Students in fourth- and fifth-grade orchestra played string instruments such as the violin, viola and cello.

During the 19th annual Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Employee Christmas Luncheon, held on December 3 at the Talking Stick Resort Grand Ballroom, more than 1,000 tribal employees gathered to honor one another and celebrate their accomplishments over the past year.
