2013 SRPMIC Senior Games Bring Large Crowd to Community

Seniors from central Arizona Native American communities including the Gila River Indian Community, Ak-Chin Indian Community, Sells, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community met up to take part in this year’s Senior Games, held at the Salt River Community Building on March 18.

Community Member Plays Basketball in Arizona Special Olympics

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Adrian “AJ” Shortey recently competed with his team, the Scottsdale Bobcats, in the 2013 Special Olympics Arizona Basketball Tournament. The games took place March 22 and 23 at Fremont Junior High in East Mesa.

 

Suns Guard Diante Garrett Visits Lehi, Talks About Being Healthy & Fit

On Tuesday evening, March 19, the Lehi gymnasium hosted a “Get Fit” assembly with the Phoenix Suns. The festivities kicked off with a quick 3-on-3 basketball tournament for the youth, and afterward the children and parents enjoyed hot dogs and other light refreshments while waiting for the special guest for the evening: Phoenix Suns Guard Diante Garrett, who talked about eating healthy and staying fit.
