On September 4, 1,006 enrolled Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members over age 18 exercised their right to vote and elected Archie Kashoya, and incumbents Ricardo Leonard and Deanna Scabby to four-year terms on the SRPMIC Tribal Council.
The Fifth Annual Disabilities Conference took place at the Talking Stick Resort on August 24. The morning started off with a continental breakfast as all the vendors from different companies and organizations that cater to those who have disabilities and/or special needs set up their informational tables.
Because 2012 is an election year, there is no better time to start teaching the young children of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community all about voting. Teachers at Salt River Elementary School have been working with their classes to learn about the civic duty of voting.
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Dialysis Support Group presented “Good Kidney Awareness Today Leads to a Healthier Tomorrow,” a two-day conference held August 16-17 at the Lehi Community Building.
