Young Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Alex Enas has been performing well in rodeo competitions this spring.
In early April, he took first place in the Mt. Turnbull Rodeo Bull Bash in Bylas, Arizona, earning a belt buckle and a check for $246. Enas also won second place in the Mt. Turnbull Junior Rodeo in the steer-riding division, taking home a check for $120. Enas competed and placed first in the Rodeo Hard Youth Bull Rider event in Apache Junction, where he took home a $330 check. On May 13, Enas competed at the Copper Dust Stampede Rodeo in Globe and again received first place in steer riding, with a score of 75. He also gained another buckle to add to his collection.
Enas won more than $600 all together, and because he placed in the Rodeo Hard Youth Bull Rider event, he qualifies for the American Youth Bull Riding Association Finals at the Sky Ute Casino Resort in Ignacio, Colorado, November 1–4.
His parents, Donna and Andre Enas, said they are very proud of their son.
Back in March, Enas was featured in Au-Authm Action News after winning a buckle in the pee-wee division of two rodeos, one in Sells and the other in Whiteriver.
