Y.E.S. Academy Educates Youth on Entrepreneurship

This year’s Youth Entrepreneurship Summer (Y.E.S.) Academy recruited 22 Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community youth ages 14 to 17 to participate in a week of events July 17-21 at Northern Arizona University. The camp gave these students a small taste of college life as they engaged in creating the foundation for a successful business.

What Was Left…Museum Exhibit

What Was Life is an exhibit on display at the Huhugam Ki Museum built from interviews and photographs gathered with the kind help of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members. The Huhugam Ki Museum and Repository is working to enlarge its collection of tribal history and materials that deal with everyday life here from the early 1900s to the 1960s.

 

Strengthening Foundations for Healthy Communities

A seminar on meth and suicide prevention was held on July 13 at the Salt River Community Building. Presented by a training company called Inspire.Motivate.Lead and hosted by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Health and Human Services Division, the event was especially designed to provide essential and up-to-date solutions for strengthening tribal communities through effective prevention programming. There were 102 participants from all over the Valley.

 

Wellness Expo Inspires Families to Live Well

On Saturday, July 21, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community WellPath program welcomed enrolled Community members and their immediate family members to come and learn about healthy living during the annual Community Wellness Expo.
