Fifth Annual Diamondbacks Invitational

Several Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community baseball teams participated in the games of the fifth annual Arizona Diamondbacks and NABI (Native American Baseball Invitational) tournament, which were played at the Salt River Ball Field and at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick July 18-21. The Salt River Little Indians, Lil Nations, Sidewinders and Akimel O’odhams participated in the Single A Division of the tournament. The Little Indians came up as champions of their division, and Community member Eric Makil won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in that division.

 

10th Annual NABI Basketball Tournament

The 10th annual Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) basketball tournament took place July 11-15 at multiple gyms throughout the Valley. Several teams from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community took part.

 

Eighth Annual Salt River Community Basketball Camp

The camp ran July 16-19 for the high schoolers and then July 23-27 for the elementary and junior high students.


 

Lunchtime Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament

Volleyball teams consisting of employees from throughout the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community government have been getting together throughout July and early August to participate in co-ed volleyball games at the Pi-Copa Gym.
