Fun Day Rodeo Steers Cowboys and Cowgirls Over to the Ropers Arena

The Salt River Aal-Tash Fun Day Rodeo was held on March 31 at Ropers Arena, off the Loop 101 Freeway and McDowell Road. Many Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and other Native Americans participated in this year’s rodeo to compete in events such as barrel racing, pole bending, flag racing, team roping, steer racing and more.

 

Salt River Softball Splits Double Header with Seligman

The Salt River Lady Eagles softball team played host to Seligman on April 6 to compete in a double-header. The teams walked away splitting the games, with Salt River losing the first game 9-3 and then run-ruling Seligman 15-5.

 

Lahoma Scabby Finding Growth and Success as a Thrower at Mountain View High School

What began as something fun to do outside of playing basketball quickly developed into a skill and sport that Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Lahoma Scabby greatly enjoys. For most people, the sport of track and field is unfamiliar. While some correlate track and field with only running, the truth is that many track and field competitions are decided from points earned in the field events.

 

Salt River Majestics Place Third at AICOA Chair Volleyball Tournament

The Salt River Majestics chair volleyball team has won another trophy, this time the third-place trophy from the 2012 Arizona Indian Council on Aging (AICOA) Conference games.
