The Salt River Police Department is seeking qualified Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Member applicants for open positions of police officer recruit. Getting hired as a police officer recruit is the starting point of becoming a sworn police officer serving our Community. To qualify, get hired and accepted into the Police Academy, recruits must meet all the phases and standards established by the Police Academy (and for Peace Officer Certification), including the physical-agility requirements.
We are seeking all persons who are interested in a career as a SRPD police officer to please join us at Salt River High School on Saturday, March 17 at 7 a.m. You will participate in various physical-agility tests (listed below). This experience is designed to give participants an idea of the physical shape they are in, and the encouragement to continue in the testing process and ultimately get hired to serve your Community as a police officer.
There will be physical fitness instructors on site to guide you through the process and also develop a physical-fitness plan, should you need improvement in any particular area. The following are the physical-agility standard testing categories:
• 1.5-mile run
• agility run
• 300-meter run
Scores will not be recorded, only provided to participants for their reference to best guide them in their training and for the upcoming police officer recruit testing that will be given at a later date.
Here are a few tips for participants to be best prepared before arriving:
• Arrive early for the test.
• Bring proper identification.
• Wear proper workout attire.
Follow all instructions given by personnel prior to, during and in conclusion of testing on that day. Personnel will be available to answer questions prior to the administration of the test.
