Salt River Eagles Track Team Competes in Arizona Lutheran Invitational

The Salt River High School varsity track team entered six athletes into the Arizona Lutheran Invitational. Head coach Steve Adams stood near the fence as he waited for the start of the 100-meter dash where Lloyd Lewis, Daniel Lopez and Eugene Lewis were set to compete.

As the runners passed in lanes one, two and seven Adams encouraged the runners to keep their form through the end of the race.

The boys were all running in the first heat because this was their first time competing in the 100-meter dash this season and they had yet to post a time. Lloyd finished in 24th place overall with a time of 13.29 seconds. Lopez placed 26th with a time of 13.37 seconds, followed by Eugene who finished the race in 28th place with a time of 13.58 seconds.

Eugene finished 14th in the long jump followed by Lopez in 17th place.

Lloyd competed in discus and finished in 9th place. Hosteen Smith earned 14th place. Monty Benally took 20th and Edison Kin finished 22nd overall. The same athletes competed in shot put and Lloyd finished in 4th, Smith in 14th, Kin in 21st and Benally in 22nd.
