Salt River Wrestling Makes History With Two State Placers

Heading into the 2010-11 Division IV State Wrestling Championships in Prescott on February 11-12, the Salt River Eagles wrestling team knew they had a good chance to earn their way onto the medal stand. Head coach Marc Hillis knew Hosteen Begay-Smith and Lloyd Lewis, who qualified for the state tournament, were going to be tough competition for their opponents and was confident they could be successful.

Jeffrey Fulwilder: Talent Takes Artist to New Heights

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Jeffrey Fulwilder has made a mark for himself in the Community with his O’odham and Piipaash–inspired sculptures, which can be seen and enjoyed at a variety of locations around the Community, including six large sculptures installed along the Pima Corridor.

On February 11, an Artist reception and dinner was held at the Canalside Neighborhood Center for Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members Royce Manuel and group of students that included Ron Carlos, August Wood and Joe Martinez.

 

SRPD Receives $34,000 Grant for Crash Investigation Equipment

The Salt River Police Department (SRPD) Traffic Enforcement Bureau has received a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in the amount of $34,000. The funding will pay for the purchase of an advanced crash-investigation system and training the traffic officers in its use.
