Swim Lessons Return to Salt River Pool

Salt River Pool put together a schedule for summer swim lessons over an eight day period. Session one is currently underway with four classes remaining on July 26, 28, August 2 and 4 at the Salt River Pool. Class takes place from 6:40-7:20 p.m.

 

Karate Creates a Good Kid

A young Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member, 9-year-old Mathew Primeaux, has found that studying karate teaches discipline, which he puts to good use both in karate class and also at school and at home. The fourth-grader, who attends Lehi Elementary, began two years ago at De Palma’s Team USA Martial Arts in Mesa. According to his family, the karate class has taught Primeaux to strive for improved grades and a better attitude, and he has made new friends and lifelong skills.

 

Fit Rez Kids Learn to Live the Healthy Life

Several Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community youth ages 8–12 have been participating in the Fit Rez Kids program, hosted by the Salt River Fitness Center and the Disease Prevention Program of SRPMIC Health and Human Services.

 

Youth Sharpen Skills with Summer Slow-Pitch Softball

The Friendship Youth Sports League has started summer slow-pitch softball games, with co-ed and girls’ divisions. There are 18 teams in the league, and almost all of the teams are from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, other teams that joined the league are Gila River, Ak-Chin and Fort McDowell.
