Lady Eagles Girls Basketball Competes in Nike Tournament of Champions

The extremely competitive Nike Tournament of Champions girls basketball tournament took place December 27–30 at Perry, Chandler and Hamilton high schools. The Salt River High School (SRHS) Lady Eagles were invited to play in the tournament for the second time; their first invitation was in 2007 after finishing that season as state runners-up, but they were unable to attend due to a previously scheduled tournament.

 

Salt River Wrestler Returns From Ironwood Invitational With Third Place Finish

Placing for the third time in his wrestling career, Salt River High School senior Hosteen Begay-Smith sees his third-place finish at the Ironwood Eagle Invitational wrestling tournament in Glendale as a stepping stone this season.

On Thursday evenings, 11 Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community seniors gather at the Salt River Fitness Center to practice their line dancing moves to share with the Community and to stay fit. They are the Salt River Senior Steppers.

 

Community Member Cheyenna Wallen Plays Forward for Moon Valley

Fourteen-year-old Cheyenna Wallen is a freshman at Moon Valley High School who just celebrated her birthday on December 27. According to Wallen, this makes her one of the youngest student athletes in her school and on the varsity basketball team.
