2010 Walk for O’odham and Piipaash

On October 2, close to 500 Community members and employees gathered at the Two Waters complex to take part in a walk for the O’Odham and Piipaash.
The walk originally began 7 over years ago as a way for participants to offer prayers and positive thoughts for the people of the Community and to remember our ancestors, family, friends and relatives who passed.

Salt River Fire and Police Departments Sponsor Safety Day for Community

On October 7, the Salt River police and fire departments sponsored Safety Day at the Salt River Pop Warner football field. Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and families came out to take part in the free event, which featured both fun and learning with safety demonstrations, food, clowns, health and wellness information booths, child safety-seat inspections and live music.

 

Organizing Photographs Through Creative Memories Helps Community Members Cherish Their Own Memoriess

Photographs are cherished mementoes for many people, but often those photos remain embedded in digital cameras or get developed into prints that get left inside a shoebox in the closet. Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Collette Arthur is an independent consultant for a company called Creative Memories, working with people to arrange and display their photographs in new ways

 

SRPMIC Awarded as First Tribal Production Submission to EPA Emission Inventory System

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community was recognized on September 28 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Emission Inventory and Analysis Group as the First Tribal Production Submission to the Emission Inventory System. The award was presented to Environmental Engineer Chris Horan while he was making a presentation at the International Emission Inventory Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Horan was not told the Community was being given the award.
