On a cool Saturday morning on April 17, parents brought their 3-5 year olds to the Recreation's Little Ballerz program held outside on the Community Pop Warner field. There they would learn the basics of baseball to help them for the upcoming t-ball season.

First thing that morning, both the children and their parents participate in a stretch to help loosen their muscles. The Little Ballerz Program always involves both the child and parent to take part in all the activities, this helps encourage sportsmanship for both the child and parents.

The families then split into two groups after they completed warm-ups, both groups practiced the basics of t-ball such as batting practice, throwing overhand and scooping the ball, base running, fielding and catching.

With t-ball season right around the corner, the Little Ballerz program was a great way to introduce children to baseball skills by improving children’s coordination and learning the rules.

The Community t-ball league begins in May. For more information, call Recreation at (480) 362-6360.
