Eighth Annual NABI Tournament Comes to the Valley

About 70 Native American youth basketball teams, in both boys’ and girls’ divisions, traveled to the Valley of the Sun to compete in the 2010 Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) July 6–10. Games took place at locations throughout the Valley, including on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

 

Lady Warriors Teams of Salt River Participates in NABI Tournament

The eighth annual Native American Basketball Invitational kicked off for the girls division on July 7. The Lady Warriors from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community traveled to Valley Lutheran High School to take on the Lady Lobos of Diné from Chinle.

 

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick UPDATE: Grass Is Growing at Salt River Fields

Progress at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick is rapid these days, with steel framing at the main field now giving baseball fans a glimpse of what will soon be the new stadium at the spring training facility. Recently, sixteen 100-foot light poles were installed around two of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies practice fields, adding to the visual impression that there soon will be baseball fields north of the Scottsdale Pavilions and west of the Loop 101 Freeway.
