SRPMIC 2010 New Year's Celebration

Au-Authm Action News

After months of preparation, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community New Year’s festivities went off without a hitch for the fifth year in a row.

Hundreds of Community members and employees came out to enjoy the food and carnival rides, rock out to the music, and just to people-watch while welcoming the new year.

Offering unlimited rides for $5, this event is a big hit with families that want to ring in the New Year in a safe environment. Besides the carnival rides, there was a dance for the teenagers and a Chicken Scratch Dance with music provided by the Tohono O’odham Braves. Everybody enjoyed themselves, and the fireworks that lit up the blue-moon sky were awesome. The night was perfect; even the temperature was a bit warmer than in previous years.

For more on the Community’s 2010 New Year festivities, see pages 12 and 13.
