Super Kids Sports Day

It was a day of fun, physical activity and socializing at the Community Building on January 27 for Super Kids Sports Day. The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Recreation Department’s Social Programs division hosted its Super Kids Club families for the evening, which was designed to provide fun while doing physical activities and promoting social skills for children with disabilities.

 

Girl Scouts All-Indian Men’s Basketball Tournament

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Recreation Department’s Social Programs Division presented the annual Girl Scouts All-Indian Men’s Basketball Tournament on January 30. The Girl Scouts organization hosts the tournament every year as a fundraiser for their junior and cadet Girl Scout troops.

 

Salt River High School Wrestling Update

The Salt River Junior High wrestling team finished the season at Mountain View High School in Marana. They were one of 55 teams competing, placing 47th overall at the end.

 

After-School Program Offers Fun, Learning

When school gets out for the day at Salt River Elementary School (SRES), Salt River Recreation Department staff members are there to pick up children ages 8 to 13 who are enrolled in the department’s after-school program. The program meets from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and can accommodate 30 children; currently it is operating at full capacity. The majority of the children are Community members and children of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community employees.
