With the Major League Baseball awards being handed out, baseball is definitely in the air. Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, in partnership with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies played host to media members in order to photograph the final sod installation of the main stadium field on November 19.
Salt River Fields General Manager Dave Dunne was on site to answer questions and give insight into the progressing facility. He said the project is on track and the progress has been substantial over the past year.
“This has all been completed in one year’s time and it is incredible,” he said.
As media members made their way to the second deck of the facility, Dunne explained the set-up including high-retail patio furniture and more of a “16th hole feel.” He also pointed out the location of the bullpen and the fact that fans will be able to view the pitchers warming up from above.
“The snack bar is located just feet away and they can grab something to eat and drink and sit above the bullpen on shaded tables as the game is played,” Dunne said.
The projected completion date is 57 days away.
