Topping-Out Ceremony Signifies an On-Track Project for Salt River Fields

In a topping-out ceremony, the final two beams of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies clubhouses were hoisted up at 9 a.m. on July 23 at Salt River Fields. Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members, dignitaries, as well as employees representing the Diamondbacks and Rockies put their signatures on the beams, which were also marked with each team’s logo.

Traditions Taught Through OPLP Summer Classes

In June and July, the O’odham Piipaash Language Program (OPLP) held two, four-week classes for O’odham women to learn the skills for making a traditional O’odham dress. One class was for beginners and the other was for intermediate seamstresses.

 

Aloha, It’s a Luau!

A Hawaiian luau was held at the Salt River Community Building on July 22 for Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community seniors, along with seniors from Gila River and the Pascua Yaqui community.
