Ranger Unit Update

As spring returns to the desert, the Salt River is a place of tranquility. Because of winter storms, many of the roads and normal beach areas at the river (“Whirlpool,” Pole 3, “Three Poles” and Pole 17) have been washed out, so please be aware of this—drive and park carefully. The water is flowing extremely fast, and everyone should be very careful when swimming. Bartlett Lake and the lower Salt and Verde rivers were stocked with fish in late March.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

April 11–17, 2010, is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) convinced Congress of the need for a formal proclamation to set aside a special week to honor the professionals who provide communications during emergency situations. Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) introduced what became H.J. Resolution 284 to create National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, and it was officially recognized by Congressional Proclamation in 1994.
