East Valley Holiday DUI Task Force Update
During the 2009 holiday season, beginning November 27 and ending December 31, the Salt River Police Department (SRPD) Traffic Enforcement Bureau (TEB), Field Operations Division (FOD) and Public Safety Communications Division (PSCD) dispatchers conducted the East Valley Holiday DUI Task Force. The task force operated within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The goals were to enforce tribal and state traffic laws, specifically focusing on impaired drivers, and to educate drivers to increase roadway safety within the Community and to reduce collisions—especially serious injury and fatal collisions.

Salt River Police Department Explorer Post 909

By Officer Rodney States

Season’s Greetings to everyone on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The month of November was a busy one for the School Resource Officer unit (SRO). Among other events, we participated in the Cold Stone Dry Run to raise money for the Salt River Explorers program. We are anxiously awaiting the Christmas holiday and will be participating in a number of events in December too. For example, Salt River Elementary School will be having its monthly fun run on December 18. Parents are welcome to join the kids and run or walk in the event. I hope to see you there.
