Team Ba’ag Takes on Tour De Cure

Team Ba'ag (Eagle) of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community recently participated in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure, which is a series of nationwide cycling events raising funds to benefit the American Diabetes Association. On March 13, cyclists pedaled in North Phoenix beginning at the Reach 11 Sports Complex on Deer Valley Road, through the communities of Anthem and New River, and then back to the starting point.

 

Rivers Throws Out First Pitch

Newly elected Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Tribal Council Member Leonard Rivers threw out the first pitch at the Cactus League spring training game on March 10 featuring the Oakland A’s against the Chicago White Sox.

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members, employees and family members participated in the 2010 Ragnar Relay Del Sol February 26 and 27. The 200-mile race started in Prescott and ended at Tempe Marketplace.

 

High School Basketball Tournament

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Recreation Department hosted the 2010 High School Basketball Tournament March 11–13. According to Marla James, recreation coordinator II, the Recreation Department has been hosting this tournament for about 15 years.
