Therefore, an election will be held for the offices of President, Vice President, and 4 Council Member seats. District I (Salt River) will have 3 Council Member seats available and District II (Lehi) will have 1 Council Member seat available. Pursuant to Article VI, Section 2 of the Constitution of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) the election shall be held on the first Tuesday in September in each even numbered year. --------------------------------------------------------------- The SRPMIC Tribal Enrollment listing will be the registered voters' list for all elections. An eligible voter must be an enrolled member of the Community, 18 years or older on the day of the election, and a resident of the electoral district of for which they vote in for at least one (1) year; or in such district in which they are registered pursuant to SRPMIC ordinance. Pursuant to Article VI, Section 4 of the SRPMIC Constitution persons who are a prisoner in any jail or prison on the date of election or has been declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be incompetent are not eligible to vote. POLLING SITES: District I (Salt River) voters vote at SALT RIVER COMMUNITY BUILDING. (Polls open from 6am-6pm) District II (Lehi) voters vote at LEHI COMMUNITY BUILDING. (Polls open from 6am-6pm) SRPMIC TRIBAL ID OR APPROPRIATE EVIDENCE OF IDENTITY IS REQUIRED TO VOTE Eligible members will not be required to register to vote. Community members must show a (picture) tribal ID card or appropriate evidence of identity at the polls before they will be given a ballot. Should you need a Tribal ID, contact the Office of Membership Services at (480) 362-7618. Since the tribal enrollment listing will be used to determine eligibility and the district you vote in please make sure that information such as your name, tribal ID number, and address are up-to-date with the Office of Membership Services. DEADLINE FOR NON-RESIDENT VOTERS (ABSENTEE BALLOT) Deadline for non-residents to request an absentee ballot is Monday, August 23, 2010. Members who live West of North Mesa Drive are considered to be a District I (Salt River) voter and should vote at Salt River Community Building. Members who live East of Mesa Drive are considered to be a District II (Lehi) voter and should vote at Lehi Community Building.
