The Tucson Festival of Books is a celebration of literacy where favorite authors gather to speak about their work and sign books. There are writing workshops and competitions, panel presentations, live cooking demonstrations, children's activities, storytelling, artists and musicians ... and all this entertainment is free to the public.
In 2009, the Festival featured more than 450 authors and presenters, representing numerous genres. There truly is something for all readers, of all ages.
There is no admittance fee, and no parking fees at The University of Arizona. With the support of the Festival's generous sponsors, all community members may enjoy this fun and exciting cultural event at no charge.
Visitors will want to bring their wish lists, though, because the Festival is a wonderful place to shop for books. Many authors will personally autograph copies in the booksellers' exhibits. Festival exhibitors offer a wide selection of reading-related accessories available for purchase; it's the best shopping mall ever for book lovers!
Did we mention the food? Leading local restaurants offer a delicious variety of foods. No need to leave the Festival to enjoy a terrific meal.
Visitors will feel good about their purchases, knowing that the Festival's proceeds from this weekend benefit several local literacy groups all year long.
